Transforming Lives Through Digital Literacy: Rotary Club of New Oko-Oba Metropolitan’s Impact in 2025

In celebration of Basic Education & Literacy Month, the Rotary Club of New Oko-Oba Metropolitan organized a transformative training programme titled “Digital Literacy for Everyday Life and Business Empowerment.” The event took place on 18th September 2025 at Royal Ascot Hotel and was facilitated by Rtn. Olusegun Ige of iCore Digital Business Limited and Rtn. Ojikutu Adeleke of WEBTRANSACT Limited.
The training highlighted how digital literacy can enhance everyday living and business operations while empowering Rotarians and community members to become champions of digital inclusion. A total of 8 Rotarians and 4 community members participated in the session. Each Rotarian is expected to cascade the knowledge gained to at least 10 people within their networks, extending the project’s reach to 80–100 additional beneficiaries.
Participants gained valuable insights on how digital empowerment helps build more informed and connected communities. Families, schools, and youths also benefit as this culture of continuous learning spreads further. Importantly, the project was delivered at no cost, with contributions made in kind — including expertise, venue, and materials.
To ensure sustainability, the club launched a closed online mentoring group to provide follow-up support for participants over the next month. This initiative reflects Rotary’s dedication to modern literacy, bridging the digital divide, empowering members, and strengthening community resilience.
